Management Training Program

Description: The successful candidate will highly desire to help us structure and become part of a new Management Training Program. They will develop and build a strong foundation over a period of 2.5- 3 years transitioning between all disciplines! All this while simultaneously gaining hands on experience and actively participating in making a difference in our credit union. Come develop your skill set and resume by working closely with a dynamic team of CU professionals while making an impact on this credit union and it's members. HUDFCU expects to have some Senior level retirements in the next handful of years, as do many other credit unions. Come position yourself to possibly fast track the Corporate Ladder. Not too many industries where you can do that!

Region: District of Columbia

Position Requirements: Positive influencer desiring to make an impact on people's lives through a "People Helping People" philosophy/culture. Prefer a recent college graduate with no more than two years of experience. Understands the necessity of developing a strong cross departmental foundation in core disciplines before becoming a successful Manager.

Position Responsibilities: Initial track of 8-10 months will be mutually determined by the education, previous experiences and capacity of the candidate and the needs of HUDFCU. Possibilities include Marketing/Social Media, Operations, Member Service, Compliance, IT, Finance/Accounting.

Lending Manager

HUD Federal Credit Union is seeking to fill the Lending Manager role in Washington, DC. The successful candidate will be responsible for the direct supervision of all Lending activities.

Who we are looking for: We are looking for someone who can lead change to meet our membership’s current and future borrowing needs. We require comprehensive knowledge of consumer and mortgage loan lending for a growing department. Responsibility includes managing daily operations and loan activities to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures. In addition to managing a team, the incumbent is responsible for personal goals by actively participating in the production of new business, underwriting and collection activities. We are looking for someone who has an outgoing personality and truly wants to make a difference for our members.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage Visa Credit Card, Consumer, First Mortgage/Home Equity and Loan Participation production; Community Development Lending (a plus).
  • Determine work priorities of subordinate staff; scheduling work assignments; training, and evaluating performance; and provide ongoing recognition, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Manage third-party vendor relationships as they pertain to both the Lending and Collection Departments.
  • Review and improve current lending products and/or implement new lending products to maximize loan growth.
  • Develop Loan Policy, Collection Policy, and other policies as they pertain to both the Lending and Collection Departments.
  • Prepare management and/or committee reports such as they pertain to both the Lending and Collection Departments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws/regulations.
  • Resolve policy issues identified internally or by examiners.
  • Resolve complex and sensitive customer service issues.
  • Serve on committees that involve Asset and Liability Management, Technology, Strategic Planning, and collaborate with others in the Credit Union to research and review proposals.
  • Ensure team consistently delivers excellent customer service to members, while cultivating an environment that concentrates on the members’ needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of lending, including Visa Credit Cards, Consumer Loans, and First Mortgage/Home Equity products.
  • Collections experience.
  • Management experience desired.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required to establish goals, direct and evaluate staff; interact with employees, industry peers, and outside vendors; make recommendations; prepare reports; and conduct presentations.
  • Excellent organization, project management, execution and delivery skills. Must be able to multi-task with frequent interruptions; be comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment; and manage multiple projects to conclusion on time.
  • Ability to remain flexible and withstand unpredictable changes to schedules and deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $55,000.00 to $75,000.00 / year

License: NMLS (Preferred) and/or can satisfy standard regulatory requirements imposed by the Loan Originator Compensation rule of the Truth in Lending Act to hold the position.

Branch Manager

HUD Federal Credit Union is seeking an experienced financial institution professional to develop and lead a member service team to deliver superior service to members.

Who we are looking for: We are looking for someone who can provide world class service to our membership. Lead, develop and coach staff to meet our membership’s current and future financial needs. Responsibilities include developing and executing tactical action plans, sales goals, member service, marketing and cross-selling new and existing products and serving as a liaison with internal and external entities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strong knowledge of CreditUnion/Banking branch operations, procedures and policies and to ensure compliance with federal and state laws/regulations.
  • Ability to perform all branch duties and functions such as new accounts, loan support and cash management.
  • Maintain a highly motivated, well-trained staff and ensure optimal performance while cultivating an environment focused on members’ needs.
  • Direct daily work priorities of member service staff, assuring completion of daily work and resolving complex and sensitive member issues.
  • Hire quality staff for vacancies, evaluate performance and provide ongoing recognition, mentoring and coaching.
  • Manage third-party vendor relationships as they pertain to branch operations.
  • Review and recommend improvements to current product and service offerings to maximize branch growth.
  • Foster and expand existing relationships with members.
  • Perform regular teller, ATM and vault balancing and audits, and branch reconciliations.
  • Maintain branch security and safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with all financial institution products, services, policies and procedures as well as all areas of branch management, operations and cash handling.
  • Thorough knowledge of ATMs.
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal regulations and guidelines. BSA, USA PATRIOT Act and OFAC compliance are a must.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required for: establishing goals and directing and evaluating staff; interacting with employees, industry peers and outside vendors; making recommendations, preparing reports and conducting presentations.
  • Excellent organization, project management, execution and delivery skills. Must be able to multi-task with frequent interruptions; be comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment; and manage multiple projects to conclusion on time.
  • Ability to remain flexible and withstand unpredictable changes to schedules and deadlines.
  • Must be proficient in the use of standard business applications in a Windows-based environment (i.e., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and have hands-on experience with financial institution core processing applications.
